Privacy at The Story Oven
Draft for the prototype, last updated October 7, 2026.
Who this is for
The Story Oven is used by children, but it's set up and owned by a parent or guardian. The parent creates the account, adds their children's first names and ages, and agrees to how their family's books are stored. Children never type in personal information.
What we keep
- The parent's email address, to send each new book and for account messages.
- Children's first names and ages, which the parent enters, so stories can be pitched to the right age and credited to the artist.
- Each book: the photo of the drawing, the story, its pictures and its narration.
How books are shared
Each book lives at its own private link, the one on its printed ticket and in the parent's email. Books are never listed, searchable or shown to anyone else. Anyone who has the link can open that book, so share it only with people you choose.
Who helps make a book
To turn a drawing into a book, the box sends the photo and story text to the AI services that write the story (Anthropic), draw the pictures (OpenAI) and read it aloud (ElevenLabs). Books are stored with Supabase and served by Vercel, and emails are sent by Resend. We don't sell personal information or use it for advertising.
Deleting things
A parent can ask us to delete any book, or their whole account and everything in it, at any time, and we will.
